Altar Ministry

Prepare the Banquet

The Altar Guild is made up of a group of dedicated parishioners responsible for setting up the Holy Eucharist for regular Sunday services, special services and occasionally for weddings and funerals.  This joyful ministry takes approximately 1/2 hour before and after each service. Usually two or more members work together in preparing for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and in carefully readying the vessels and linens for safekeeping until the next service.  Members serve one Sunday per month and select services for a four-month rotation; services can be switched with other members according to personal needs.  The Altar Guild meets as a group three times a year after the 10:15 am service.

You will also be asked to take on additional responsibilities in preparation for the Sunday schedule of services; these duties, shared with another member, take approximately 1 hour to complete.  Members can also participate in the care of the silver, linens and clergy vestments. Training is provided for new members. A book of service procedures is always available for consultation.

If you are interested in this service to God and our church, please contact the Rector or Judy Soncrant, Altar Guild Directress.
