Acolytes are lay people who take part in helping to lead the worship service. Each service requires a Crucifer, Torch Epistle, and Torch Gospel who lead the procession both in and out, plus serve the clergy during the service in the reading of the Gospel, preparation for communion, and more! The ministry is open to both males and females. Children ages 7 and up are welcome, as well as adults. It’s necessary that all children interested in becoming an acolyte are able to sit fairly still and are able to pay attention during the service.
Training is done by Hilary Cox, with the help of the Rector, at the new acolytes’ convenience, but most of the training is really “on the job”. Time commitment is very flexible.
All interested parties should contact Jocelyn Colao, Parish Administrator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
